I was always scared of using it because a college instructors often times would say it looked pasty. When I was working on my painting for Day of the Dead exhibition I had to use a bit of white- the painting is based on a turquoise bracelet that belonged to my aunt. (Blue#2, if you care to see it) At this time, I was still blending my colors seamlessly so it is subtle.
Lately, I have been using white in my paintings more often. Specifically, transparent white- it’s becoming an indispensable color in my palette and all my recent paintings have white in them. Some more subtle than others. I’m still experimenting with it, and the process has been fun.
